I cannot say enough wonderful things about Cathy and the staff at RC Kennels. The staff is friendly, you can tell they genuinely care about your pet. Also, their prices are very reasonable.
We went to Alaska for vacation and I was kind of nervous leaving my 2 dogs there for a week since neither of them had ever been boarded. But, I will definitely take my dogs back to RC Kennels! Not only were they able to keep them an extra day since our plane got delayed, but when we picked up our furbabies they were clean, happy and healthy looking! They looked great and very well taken care of. I am impressed with the amount of care they have given out dogs!
The best part about RC is their late pick up for daycare. There have been so many times that I have been stuck at work and late picking my dog up at other places. This then results in my dog being kept overnight (which is always traumatic for him). Not at RC Kennels. Simply let them know there is a possibility of being late and they will ensure you can grab your hound after hours. Which I am incredibly thankful for.
Great local kennel with a very friendly and knowledgeable owner. Went for dog food and really enjoyed talking with her. Great place!
Our vet recommended Cathy, the owner, for grooming after my shy cocker spaniel had a bad experience at Petco. She was beyond patient and let him take his time getting used to the grooming room while she groomed another dog. They also provided a couple hours of free doggy daycare when I couldn't pick him up from grooming right away. Our dog loves it there now, and has gone for doggy daycare and boarding many times. Dogs get to run around behind the front desk during daycare and get lots of attention from the staff. They also have lots of fenced in areas outdoors for the dogs to run and play. Excellent care for a really reasonable price.
We had to go out of town and we left our dog at RC Kennels. The place looks great. Plenty of out door space. I talked with a young lady about our dog. We got him at a rescue so he's been abandoned by families left and right. He does have separation anxiety, and can climb 7ft fences. The young lady got to know him and made his transition easy. She offered him treats and lead him to his outdoor kennel. We picked him up and he did great. The next day we left him over night and got a call from an older lady. She made me upset because instead of sounding worried about our dog having separation anxiety it sounded like she was worried that the dog would destroy her kennel and started talking about how he broke the water bowl that was attached to the fence. I asked her if he's been out for a walk and she said she's afraid he'd get loose so she didn't want to let him out. (I understand if my dog breaks property that I'm responsible but keeping a dog locked in the kennel from Friday morning to Saturday noon time is crazy! Especially a 145lb malamute.) If they couldn't handle a dog of that caliber they should have said so in the beginning. It felt like she just saw dollar amounts instead of having the dogs best interest in mind. If we were in town I would have picked him up that night but we were in DC. We picked him up as soon as we arrived in town. She said he had calmed down and relaxed, and ate fine. We brought him home and he drank a gallons of water. I hope he wasn't out in this kansas heat without water because he broke the $25.00 water bowl.
