Getting a visitor pass was a quick and easy process. There is ample covered parking outside and plenty of seating inside.
Least convenient, most ridiculous guest pass process to any military installation I've encountered in the last 9 years. Very impersonal, long wait, DMV-esque atmosphere. Comical that an active duty officer cannot escort his girlfriend overnight to stay at lodging while visiting family.
Fast friendly service. Everyone needs a pass who does not have a military ID which is a pain but understandable
The staff are very helpful, courteous and patient....even with their computer's off-line
It's unfortunate that 1 person can inconvenience so many people on a daily basis. One person's insanity breeds infinite inconvenience. Soap box aside...most days...not so bad...but last Saturday, not only did it take about 30-35 minutes of filling out forms and waiting to get on to post, then the MP who made my pass filled out the time wrong and I didn't notice. So at the gate, I get selected for a "random" inspection. (Didn't see that happen to any other car the entire time I was there). After the inspection...about 10 minutes of looking through my truck, they turn me around and send me back inside to get a different pass. About an hour total from the time I exited the interstate until I was able to access Fort Riley...all so I could take my cousin back to the barracks. Maybe Fort Riley should have a shuttle from the VCC to Custer Hill so people can just drop off soldiers. Would keep less people from entering post and the soldiers would be able to safely get up to the hill.
